Personal Leadership, Computer Basics, Computers Intermediate, a CV Writing Workshop and the Khan Academy Math Club!
140 individuals participated in training courses from the 9th March to the 2nd April 2015 at Ratang Bana and Leratong in Alexandra Township.
Each course was run for 8 to 14 individuals. Kids attended Personal Leadership and the Math Club, while several groups of adults experienced Personal Leadership, Computer Courses, CV writing and how to use a computer to job hunt.
Most participants had never used a mouse before so it was a huge success that we covered the foundations of Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Email & the Internet. Everyone had their own Gmail account by the end of the week and were confident searching via Google.
The five day Personal Leadership course covered the topics below with the aim to empower individuals by building self-confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
• Values & Strengths
• Communication & Listening
• Presentation Skills
• Creative Thinking & Decision Making
• Problem Solving & Negotiation Skills
• Interpersonal Skills & Team Work
• How to give Feedback
• Goal Setting
Some wonderful initiatives came from individuals after attending the courses. From starting to write a novel, setting up one’s own business and to pass on the newly learnt skills to other individuals.
