For the 5th consecutive year Gumboots is participating in the online Christmas Challenge. We aim to raise £5,750 online over 72 hours from the 29th Nov to the 2nd of December. We need your help to do this!

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign which helps UK-registered charities raise funds for their cause.Founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Alec Reed CBE, since the Big Give launched the campaign in 2008, the Christmas Challenge has raised over £71 million for more than 2,500 charity projects.

This year we are fundraising to support and grow the Sigiya Sonke (Youth Stand Together) Dance Project in Alexandra Township, Johannesburg. Its an awesome program which helps to keep kids off the streets, providing a creative outlet and alternative to crime, and drugs for some of South Africa’s poorest children and young people. The program benefits over 60 children and is in a temporary venue after sadly having to vacate the Dance Warehouse earlier this year. Through the medium of dance Sigiya Sonke offers children an opportunity to develop their skills and self-esteem by providing daily workshops in both traditional African and modern dance. This is a talented and promising group, and includes our gumboot dancers!

The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2016 will take place from 12 pm midday noon on the 29th November to 12 pm midday noon on 2nd December.

Unlike in previous years, the campaign will run uninterrupted from midday of the first day (29th Nov) to midday of the last day (2nd Dec). You will be able to donate online at any time during the campaign and your donation will be doubled as long as Gumboots has match funds available. Donating is easy, see How to Donate if in doubt.

Make a note in your diary to get online on Tuesday 29th at 12 pm midday noon to make you donation, no mater how big or small it all will make a difference!
